Adam Gilchrist's 149 is his first World Cup hundred and the highest score in a World Cup final. The 172-run stand between Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden was their 16th century stand in ODIs, equalling Tendulkar and Ganguly's record for the most number of hundred partnerships for the first wicket.
