National Cricketers return to the island this morning after winning the Asia Cup outside Sri Lanka for the first time beating India in the final. Sports Minister Hon. Gamini Lokuge, Deputy Minister Mr. Bandula Basnayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Sports Mr. S. Liyanagama along with SLC Staff and Interim Committee Members, received the team at the Air Port and religious observations, press interviews and morning tea followed.

The team was later invited by H.E. The President Mahinda Rajapakse for breakfast at the President House and many well wishes including The Hon. Prim-Minister Ratnasiri Wicramanayake, Defense Secretary Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse, Hon. Minister Chamal Rajapakse, Presidential Secretary, Head of all Arm Forces and Chairman SLC Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga (MP). Were present to congratulate our Cricketers.
