Former Nevis and Leeward Islands cricketer Warrington Phillip has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Shermel, in February 2007.
The jury in the trial reached an 11-1 decision after two hours' deliberation at the end of a one-week trial.
Twenty-six year old Shermel Phillip's body was found in her car on February 16, 2007. Her throat had been cut. Her estranged husband was charged with murder the following day. The judge called for psychiatric and social evaluations on Phillip and he will be sentenced on December 12.
Phillip appeared in 43 first-class matches for Leeward Islands between 1990 and 1999, making a comeback for Nevis in the inaugural Stanford 20/20 in 2006.
