Sharjah Champions' Trophy

†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1989-90

At Sharjah, October 17. Pakistan won by 57 runs. Toss: Pakistan. Victory gave Pakistan the Champions Trophy with one game still to play. At 86 for four in the 25th over, they were making hard work of batting on a good pitch, but a sparkling half-century from Ijaz (51 balls, seven fours) and Imran's 60 not out off 57 balls improved their position. Even so, a total of 237 looked insufficient when Simmons, driving powerfully and once hitting Imran into the grandstand, was putting on 43 with Haynes. When Waqar Younis removed both openers, however, there followed another uneven batting display as the defending champions surrendered their title.

Man of the Match: Imran Khan.
