Yorkshire sign Naved-ul-Hasan on two-year deal

Yorkshire have signed Pakistani fast bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan as their overseas player on a two-year contract.

Naved-ul-Hasan was not retained by Sussex , who chose to keep Mushtaq Ahmed as their overseas player. Although Leicestershire offered Naved-ul-Hasan a three-year contract, he opted for Yorkshire.

The contract is conditional on him recovering from a serious shoulder injury sustained when he collided with an advertising hoarding during Sussex's Championship match at Durham earlier this month. He underwent surgery last week and faces a long period of rehabilitation.

"We have signed him for two years subject to medical checks on his injured right shoulder, which will take place in early December," Stewart Regan, Yorkshire's chief executive, told the Yorkshire Post. "We are confident that, following physiotherapy over the last two weeks at Sussex, he will make a speedy recovery."

In 29 first-class matches at Sussex Naved-ul-Hasan took 139 wickets at 22.41 as well as scoring 731 runs at 19.75.
