Harvey Hosein made a record-breaking first-class debut against Surrey at The Oval in 2014 when he claimed 11 catches to break the Derbyshire record for the most dismissals in a match by a wicketkeeper, beating the record previously held by Harry Elliott and the revered England keeper Bob Taylor. At only 18 years old, Hosein also equalled the world record for dismissals by a wicketkeeper on first-class debut. It was quite a start to maintain. The following summer he began as first choice in the Championship and when he played at Southport the former England keeper turned artist, Jack Russell, even turned up to paint the scene. A maiden Championship hundred near the end of 2016 against Worcestershire (the main resistance as Derbyshire followed on) suggested that he could achieve the batting standards needed to advance his career.
