A tall fast bowler capable of 150kph speed, Jake Haberfield moved from South Australia to Victoria during the 2013 off-season. He had made his debut for the Redbacks in 2008-09 and while he struggled to hold down a permanent place in their Sheffield Shield side, he proved a dangerous wicket-taker in the Ryobi Cup. When he moved to Victoria, his one-day record of 54 wickets at 21.40 put him in the elite domestic one-day category, but he did not make his Bushrangers debut in the Ryobi Cup, instead called on for just two Shield matches. However, his strong form for Footscray-Edgewater - he helped them win Melbourne's premier cricket title - earned him a Victoria contract for 2014-15. Away from cricket, Haberfield has studied biomedical science at the University of Adelaide.
