Naman Dhir is a batting allrounder from Punjab who recently won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with them in 2023-24. Dhir only played a peripheral role in that title win, but had done enough in Sher-E-Punjab local T20 tournament to attract the attention of Mumbai Indians' scouting network. He was the second-highest run-getter in that tournament, with 466 runs at a strike rate of almost 193. In the IPL 2024 auction, Mumbai snapped Dhir up for his base price of INR 20 lakh. In the injury absence of Suryakumar Yadav, Dhir made his IPL debut against Gujarat Titans in Mumbai's first game of the season and slotted in at No.3.
