Heavy rain and a wet outfield gave the umpires no choice but to abandon play without a ball being bowled in the State Twenty20 final between Otago Volts and Canterbury Wizards at University Oval in Dunedin.
Otago were crowned champions by virtue of having finished top of the points table after the preliminary rounds. They had won six out of the seven matches in the round-robin stage while Canterbury had won five.
