Well, Dambulla Giants have Dasun Shanaka and Ramesh Mendis to thank for their relatively promising total, with the pair steadying the innings after being 79/5 at one point. Mendis, in particular, played a couple of big shots towards the end that lent dignity to the Giants' total. Earlier, Samit Patel, Noor Ahmad and Mohammad Hafeez bowled 12 overs of excellent spin bowling, grabbing four wickets among them, while conceding only 61 runs.
A superb way to finish the innings! Mendis pulls a short ball over long leg for a stunning six!
Full, aimed at the stumps, and he digs the ball out to chip the ball over mid-wicket for a four, with long-off having come up. Clever batting!
Short, aimed at the body, and he pulls it towards midwicket for a single.
Slower ball, right into the stumps, and he digs the ball out, with the batters scampering through for a single.
Length, outside off, and he drags the ball towards deep fine leg. They attempt a risky second run, with a slide into the crease coupled with a slow throw from deep makings things safe.
Full-toss, drifting towards off, and he drags the ball towards midwicket for a single. An escape for the bowler, there.
Clever bowling! Another slower ball, short, tempts Karunaratne into charging down the pitch. He lofts the ball straight to long-on for an easy catch.
A stupendous shot, wide and outside off, he rocks back and slams the ball over cover for a six.
Slower ball, short of length and Mendis attempts a wild swing, missing the ball completely. They earn a bye as the keeper misses the stumps while attempting a run-out
Full and outside off again, he slams the ball down the wicket towards long on for another single.
Length, aimed at the stumps and he hammers the ball over the bowler towards long-on for a couple of runs.
Full and outside-off, with a lucky inside edge resulting in the ball running away towards deep fine leg for a boundary.
